The "True" meaning of the word "fan"...

Hello again readers I started thinking of this "title" for some weeks and came up with this post I hope you enjoy it. SO without any delay...

The word fan such a strong word, an interesting word. NAY it is the most IMPORTANT word any baseball lover goes by best, and I should know I grew up a "fan" of Jeff Bagwell & Craig Biggio. So this is what I have been thinking of for the past couple of weeks. So let us really begin.

"Baseball fan? YOU?" To some people this term may seem offensive. To some this term may seem unbelievable at times. But to me this term is something I lived by for nearly 2o years.

"Me? A fan? NO I AM THE FAN!" ....

Fans don't watch 1 team for nearly 20 years and cry when a double play in 1995 destroys this teams chances. Fans don't cry when they hear that their fave player of all time dies in his sleep because of a heart attack. Fans don't cry when 1 of their fave players is let go because the team they play for wants a different player. Fans don't go through the SAME crap year after year season after season ONLY to see their team LOSE YET again & not get into the Playoffs. Fans don't go to a VERY nearly empty Astrodome to see their heroes play the game they LOVE the most. Fans don't cry when their team FINALLY makes it to the World Series. Fans don't throw in the towel when their heart is broken. Fans don't cry when their team gets SWEPT out of the 1st World Series they ever played in, and fans DON'T cry when their fave players say "I had a great run, and I am done." .

NO FANS DON'T DO ANY OF THESE THINGS! A FANATIC does, and that is what I am. I am a baseball fanatic. I cried to everything I posted. I WAS an Astros "fanatic" and yes I DID 1 thing I posted a "fan" doesn't do. I threw in the towel. I had to quit for many reasons, but the main ones are 5 & 7 left and I really had no loyalties to the 'Stros anymore. Yes there will ALWAYS be 'Stros I cheer for and yes they will ALWAYS be my Hometown team, but DON'T YOU DARE SAY I AM NOT A FAN BECAUSE I QUIT! I AM A FAN just in a whole new way and NO not in the "typical" Astros fan way of "Oh the 'Stros are doing good so we have to support them, but GOD forbid they get bad cause then we are THROUGH!" SO forgive me if I am sick of my heart breaking. Forgive me for not wanting to put up with the same crap year after year. Day after day. Night after night. Season after season. I am just sick of it! & now you know what the "TRUE" meaning of fan really is! Until next time. Peace. Love. Baseball!
